We love BRS! Our daughter has been going to their Rock Camps for a few years now, and she always looks forward to it. They place the kids in "bands" where they spend the week learning a few songs and at the end of the week they play a show. It's awesome! Such a great way for kids/teens to learn to work together, to play their instruments in a band setting, and to perform in front of an audience. When our daughter ages out of their programs I am sure she'll be applying for a job! :)
This school is so awesome. I am so happy we found it. My kids have never had formal music lessons because our school district cut music. They love their guitar lessons and their teacher. Best money I ever spent.
Amazing program and people!! I cannot say enough good things about this place. My grumpy tween with an attitude comes out of her band practice at the rock school in the best mood. She feels confident and excited and her spirits are lifted when she walks out. I am so grateful for the Boise Rock School and the hard working people who make it happen. I feel like they are doing so much unrecognized good for the community in Boise and surrounding areas as well. The teachers and owners are there because they love music and want to help kids find a passion in music, just out of the goodness of their hearts. They work to help at risk teens and run the school as if they were a nonprofit organization. The teachers are all very talented, young people that are fun, funny, patient and hard working. You won't find anyone there who looks or acts under the influence or hung over, ever. They run a very clean and caring facility. You can rest easy feeling like your child is there learning to be a rock star who has values and passion for music and won't be given the idea that all rock stars drink and do drugs.
I hope more parents get the chance to experience the Rock School through their children. There is nothing more exciting to a kid who walks in and gets asked, "What song do you want to learn?"
The classes are more about enjoyment while learning an instrument so if you want a strict instrument class where perfection is achieved then the rock school might not be the place for your child.
If you want your child to enjoy learning an instrument and become a member of a real band then this wonderful place is for you.
I've been in this place for 3 camps last summer and this summer, I'm doing 6 camps here. Also, my brother did one camp last summer and this summer and I did a camp this summer with him. Also, I did a camp last summer and this summer with a kid who goes to Riverside named Colter. I love this place.
